Aptos (APT) Announces Last-Minute Airdrop

After much anticipation, Aptos blockchain has unexpectedly announced an APT airdrop just hours before its listing on exchanges.

At 05:50 AM on October 19 (Vietnam time), the official Twitter channel of Aptos Foundation revealed that they would be conducting an APT airdrop for eligible users.

Specifically, users who have completed one of the following tasks will be eligible to receive the APT airdrop:

– Registered for Aptos Incentivized Testnet; or

– Minted NFT APTOS:ZERO testnet.

Aptos stated that a total of 20,076,150 APT will be airdropped to 110,235 eligible wallet addresses. Recipients will also receive an email notification from airdrop@aptosfoundation.org.

Aptos warned that this is the only official airdrop at the moment and advised investors to be cautious of potential scams. However, the Aptos Foundation mentioned that they are considering conducting additional airdrops in the future.

According to APT tokenomics, although the community was allocated 51% of the total supply of 1 billion APT at launch, this allocation is managed by Aptos Labs and Aptos Foundation and will be gradually distributed for ecosystem activities over the next 10 years.

The last-minute APT airdrop adds another layer of complexity to the somewhat rocky launch event of Aptos, despite securing significant funding of up to $350 million in 2022. Aptos has been notably reserved regarding the tokenomics of APT, announcing the listing of APT even though the community had not yet received any coins, and the allocation of funds to the community remains under the project's control.

At 08:00 AM on October 19, Aptos officially listed APT on major exchanges. While APT/USDT and APT/BUSD pairs reached highs of $100 and $60 respectively, the price of APT on FTX approached $16 before correcting to $10 at the time of this update.
