Arbitrum aims to establish a $400 million fund for blockchain gaming projects

Arbitrum plans to allocate 200 million ARB tokens to nurture blockchain gaming projects on its layer-2 platform over the next two years.

Arbitrum Foundation seeks to boost the development of blockchain gaming on the Arbitrum layer-2 by proposing the allocation of 200 million ARB tokens (equivalent to $400 million) for a gaming development fund.

The initiative, named the "Gaming Catalyst Program," is slated to distribute funds over the next 2 years to projects looking to build on Arbitrum. Specifically, 160 million tokens will support individuals and organizations directly deploying games on Arbitrum, while the remaining 40 million ARB will fund infrastructure initiatives for blockchain gaming.

To ensure rigorous evaluation and funding of capable projects, Arbitrum Foundation proposes forming a council of 5 seasoned experts in game development to oversee the fund. The fund will also provide quarterly progress reports to keep the community informed about the latest developments.

The Gaming Catalyst Program aims to position Arbitrum as the premier "layer-2 for on-chain gaming," expecting to attract at least 200-300 project registrations and consolidate 20% of total Web3 gaming projects on its platform. Additionally, it aims to facilitate 25 projects to implement their own layer-3 solutions through Arbitrum Orbit.

The proposal has been submitted to the Arbitrum DAO governance organization for community feedback and approval.

Another newly deployed layer-2, Starknet, also announced earlier this week a $120 million gaming development fund.
