Coca-Cola Releases NFTs on Layer-2 Base

Continuing the “Onchain Summer” events celebrating the launch of Base’s mainnet, this layer-2 blockchain has partnered with Coca-Cola to unveil a limited-edition NFT collection.

Named "Global Masterpiece," the collection features reimagined versions of famous paintings such as Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” Edvard Munch’s “The Scream,” and Vincent Van Gogh’s “The Bedroom.” These are combined with contemporary art by Aket and Vikram Kushwah, presented on Coca-Cola’s iconic glass bottle design.

Coca-Cola aims for the collection to serve as a bridge between traditional painting, modern art, and a new form of digital art expression via NFTs.

Interested users can connect their wallets to the NFT minting page on the Base layer-2 and purchase these NFTs within the limited window from August 14 to August 16, 2023.

Base, a layer-2 solution developed by leading US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, has launched its mainnet connecting to Ethereum for global users. It has garnered significant attention from the crypto community with projects like the memecoin BALD (which experienced a rug pull) and the social network friend.tech.

As of the morning of August 14, over $200 million worth of assets have been moved to Base, making it the fifth largest layer-2 on Ethereum by Total Value Locked (TVL).

In the past, Coca-Cola has released NFTs through collaborations with Ethereum, Polygon, and Crypto.com.

NFTs have become a popular method for global brands and companies to engage in blockchain and crypto initiatives.
