CyberKongz Releases Genkai NFT on Ronin Network and Announces New Developments

CyberKongz has recently unveiled its Genkai NFT collection on the Ronin Network and announced the development of a new game for this sidechain. There are also rumors suggesting that Sky Mavis is negotiating with Midway Games, the publisher of Mortal Kombat, to bring the fighting game to Ronin.

Ronin Network’s Expanding Role in Web3 Gaming

Ronin Network (RON), a sidechain developed by Axie Infinity’s Sky Mavis on Ethereum, is evolving into a blockchain dedicated to the Web3 gaming ecosystem. To achieve this, the team is attracting games to build on Ronin, including:

• Games developed by Axie Infinity and Sky Mavis studio.
• Games invested in and incubated by Sky Mavis.
• Games migrating from other blockchains to Ronin.
• Collaborations with Web2 game developers to port traditional games to Ronin.

Recently, a notable Ronin Network validator, cloudwhite, has invited Midway Games to collaborate with Sky Mavis. Although this is currently just a tweet, the community is excited about the possibility of Mortal Kombat developing on Ronin Network. Mortal Kombat, a long-standing and popular fighting game series, currently has nearly 800,000 monthly players and 11 versions throughout its history.

There are also rumors that Kathleen Osgood, the Director of Business Development, is negotiating with Warner Bros. Games. If these rumors prove true, it would mark a significant milestone not only for Sky Mavis but for the Web3 gaming industry as a whole.

CyberKongz Expands on Ronin Network

While Sky Mavis is actively pursuing Web2 game partnerships, Web3 projects continue to thrive on Ronin Network. For instance, CyberKongz is expanding its presence on this sidechain:

• Play & Kollect, an NFT game from the CyberKongz brand, has migrated from Polygon to Ronin.
• Genkai, the new NFT collection from CyberKongz, is available for minting on both Ethereum and Ronin. Users will soon be able to transfer NFTs between Ethereum and Ronin.
• CyberKongz is developing a new game on Ronin based on the Genkai NFT collection.

Myoo, the anonymous founder and lead artist of CyberKongz, stated:

"Genkai is the first work I created for CyberKongz that doesn’t follow the pixel style. This collection is designed to help us expand our brand into the Japanese and Southeast Asian markets. Additionally, CyberKongz is collaborating with Ronin to develop a game based on the Genkai NFT."

As of July 28, 2023, the price of RON is trading around $0.72, reflecting a 5.2% increase over the past week.
