Reportedly, Trump flew to Palm Beach, Florida on May 7, 2024, to meet with his supporters over dinner at Mar-a-Lago the following evening. Invited guests had individually purchased over 47 NFTs priced at 99 USD each, quoting a replica of the dinner invitation.

On May 7, the presidential candidate was said to have complained outside the court that he would rather campaign than attend what he described as a "scam trial." Trump is currently in his first criminal trial in New York facing 34 charges related to business record misrepresentations to cover up hush-money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election campaign.

The Mugshot collection commemorates a pivotal moment in the former president's history—he was formally arrested in Fulton County, Georgia, USA on August 24, 2023. The "Mugshot" NFTs feature his mugshot from the 2023 arrest.

At that time, he was accused of a conspiracy to overturn the results of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, a case that has yet to go to trial. The company behind the previous NFTs had stated no direct connection to Trump's election campaign.

In December 2023, Donald Trump expanded the limited edition of the collection, including exclusive rights for NFT owners of his "prison photo" wearing his signature suit.

As reported by Coin68 in April 2023, former U.S. President Donald Trump continued to launch his second NFT collection despite criminal charges. According to OpenSea data, his initial NFT collection exceeded expectations, selling out 45,000 NFTs within hours of its release on December 16, 2022. The former president also released NFTs on Ordinals.

From staunch opposition to crypto during his White House tenure, Trump shifted his stance in 2023-2024 to praise Bitcoin as "a useful form of currency" and oppose the U.S. government's plan to issue CBDCs (Central Bank Digital Currencies).
