EigenLayer Restaking Protocol Launches Phase 1 of Testnet

EigenLayer, the restaking protocol that secured $50 million in funding last month, has officially announced the launch of its testnet.

EigenLayer Restaking Protocol Launches Phase 1 of Testnet

Early on April 7, EigenLayer, the solution for ETH holders looking to restake their staked coins, unveiled the first phase of its testnet.

According to the plan, EigenLayer will roll out in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Staker (ETH holders participating in staking)
  • Phase 2: Operator (validators and node operators)
  • Phase 3: Services

Currently, the testnet is in its initial phase, deployed on the Ethereum Goerli network, and supports both native and liquid restaking.

  • Native Restaking:
    • New stakers can set up withdrawal information to EigenLayer when creating a new validator.
    • Stakers can adjust their withdrawal details to EigenLayer once Shapella goes live.
  • Liquid Restaking:
    • The EigenLayer testnet currently supports restaking of stETH and rETH. Supported liquid staking tokens (LST) for the mainnet will be announced in advance and based on community feedback.
    • Users can engage in discussions about LSTs at http://forum.eigenlayer.xyz.

Additionally, the community is encouraged to contribute to the protocol's design and source code monitoring. An audit is expected to be completed soon, the project added. To participate in the testnet, users should visit the project’s official communication channels and follow the provided instructions.

EigenLayer is the first restaking platform on Ethereum, allowing ETH holders to restake their staked coins into a smart contract for reuse, enhancing security for other protocols. Last month, the project completed a Series A funding round of $50 million from prominent investors.
