Epic Games Store Changes Policy, Allows Blockchain Games to Return

In a recent update, the Epic Games Store, owned by gaming giant Epic Games, has revised its policies to allow blockchain-based games to be listed again.

Specifically, popular blockchain games like Gods Unchained and Striker Manager 3 have reappeared on the platform after being labeled as "Adults Only" (AO) due to their blockchain and NFT elements. Once appropriately labeled, these games are now permitted to make a comeback on the Epic Games Store.

Previously, Epic Games Store had removed all AO games, effectively eliminating most blockchain-labeled games from its platform. With this new change, the web3 games Gods Unchained and Striker Manager 3 have received the green light to return.

Immutable, the Layer-2 blockchain dedicated to the gaming ecosystem and developer of Gods Unchained, expressed satisfaction with this policy shift:

"We are thrilled with Epic Games' new policy, and Gods Unchained has returned to their store. This policy change underscores traditional gaming's embrace of web3 gaming experiences, bringing us closer to broader adoption."

While Epic Games Store moves towards openness, its competitor Steam has maintained a strict ban on blockchain and NFT-related games since 2021. However, web3 gaming companies are making significant strides, asserting the sector's strength and opening opportunities to enter the traditional gaming world.

Immutable, notably highlighted by VanEck's Chief Investment Officer as a top 25 market capitalization cryptocurrency, has seen a surge in IMX prices recently. In early November, Immutable partnered with renowned game company Ubisoft to bolster the blockchain gaming sector.

The price of IMX has shown relatively stable trading around $2.48 USD over the past 24 hours

as observed on the 1-hour chart of the IMX/USDT pair on Binance at 11:10 AM on December 25, 2023.
