The Ethereum development team has finalized the upgrades that will be included in the upcoming Dencun hard fork, with EIP-4844 being the most notable.

Ethereum Finalizes Changes for Upcoming Dencun Upgrade
Following a regular meeting on June 8th, the Ethereum development team has outlined the changes that will be implemented in the next major upgrade for the world's second-largest blockchain, named Dencun.
So, TL;DR Cancun🏝️ will include:
— timbeiko.eth (@TimBeiko) June 8, 2023
EIP-1153: Transient storage opcodes
EIP-4788: Beacon block root in the EVM
EIP-4844: Shard Blob Transactions
EIP-5656: MCOPY - Memory copying instruction
EIP-6780: SELFDESTRUCT only in same transaction
Here's the PR: https://t.co/thdzxRyfvY 😄
1153: store data, delete at end of txn -> cheaper

4788: add data beacon data chain in EVM, less trust assumption for staking pools
4844: store data, delete after 3 weeks, cheaper rollup txns
5656: cool new opcode
6780: remove SELFDESTRUCT, reduce breakagehttps://t.co/YjaYsNGJn9
While the exact date has yet to be set, Dencun will bring five significant updates to Ethereum, including:
- EIP-4844: Known as proto-danksharding, this upgrade is aimed at scaling the Ethereum blockchain (layer-1) and reducing transaction fees for layer-2 solutions.
- EIP-1153: This proposal focuses on lowering data storage costs on the blockchain, allowing blocks to accommodate more transactions.
- EIP-4788: This improvement targets the design of cross-chain bridges and staking pools.
- EIP-5656: This update introduces minor changes to the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
- EIP-6780: This proposal removes code segments that enable smart contract self-destruction.
Dencun will be Ethereum's major upgrade following the Shanghai hard fork in April 2023, which unlocked the ability to withdraw ETH from Ethereum 2.0 staking contracts.
The Dencun upgrade is anticipated to occur in Q4 2023 or, at the latest, early 2024.
