Ethereum has successfully tested the Shanghai hard fork on the Sepolia testnet, bringing this upgrade closer to its mainnet deployment scheduled for the end of March.

According to a tweet from developer terence.eth, the Sepolia testnet has successfully deployed the Shanghai upgrade, also known as Shapella. However, the developer noted some issues with outdated client versions.

The Ethereum Foundation clarified that the name “Shapella” is a combination of “Shanghai” (the Execution layer upgrade) and “Cappella” (the Consensus layer upgrade).
