Details of the Attack
A significant number of veSTG tokens were accumulated by the attacker, enabling them to create a fake proposal and embed a malicious link within the project's voting interface. As of the time of writing, 1,000 users have been scammed, resulting in total losses of $43,000.
The Snapshot team quickly removed the fraudulent proposal from their interface to prevent further users from being misled and attacked.
Other Recent Phishing Attacks
In the past week, two DEX platforms, Aerodrome and Velodrome, also fell prey to similar attacks. Hackers gained control of the front-end of these platforms, embedding malicious codes and siphoning off users' assets.
Additionally, multisig wallets have increasingly become targets of phishing attacks over the past week.
This incident underscores the importance of vigilance and robust security measures to protect against sophisticated phishing schemes in the DeFi space.
