On the evening of October 6th, the Web3 community development platform Galxe fell victim to a hacker intrusion. Initial assessments suggest that this was a front-end takeover attack.

On their website, Galxe announced that their project's website was no longer operational and that the team is actively working to resolve the issue. They cautioned users against connecting their wallets to the platform during this period.

According to technical audit firm Peckshield, it is highly likely that the project's front-end was compromised. They advised users against approving permissions for any suspicious links on Galxe's current website.

A front-end attack involves injecting malicious code into a project's website interface, tricking visitors into clicking harmful links to facilitate fund withdrawals.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT promptly identified the attacker's wallet address. Interestingly, this address has also been associated with a previous front-end attack on Balancer. At the time of writing, the hacker has withdrawn over $100,000 in user funds from Galxe.

The technical issues faced by Galxe are significantly impacting its user base, especially given the popularity of Tasks on the platform for retroactive hunting across ecosystems.
