Helium Sets Date for Migration to Solana
After receiving strong support from the community, Helium has confirmed its migration to the Solana blockchain, with the exact date set for March 27, 2023.

On February 17, Helium (HNT) published a blog detailing its plan to transition to the Solana network. The project has established the Upgrade Readiness Working Group (URWG), a development team comprised of community volunteers, to oversee the upgrade process.
The migration is scheduled to take place over a 24-hour period on March 27.
In September 2022, the Helium community agreed to move from its proprietary blockchain to Solana. At that time, the Helium Foundation emphasized maintaining layer-1 and expanding the network. Integration with Solana promises enhanced speed, scalability, wallet compatibility, and an ideal ecosystem for Helium’s growth.

This significant move will involve transferring a substantial amount of data to Solana, including all accounts, wallets, tokens, and hotspots.
Currently, several volunteers have joined the URWG to assist with the migration, but Helium is actively seeking more contributors. Leading up to March 27, the development team will focus on software updates and addressing any vulnerabilities in the smart contracts.
Meanwhile, the Solana ecosystem has experienced a severe downturn following the FTX collapse, with the SOL token briefly dropping to $8.
The HNT token has risen by 6% in the past 24 hours, reaching $3 at the time of writing.
