Layer-2 Blast Plans Token Airdrop Next Week
As per an announcement released on June 20, Layer-2 platform Blast, providing native yield on the Ethereum network, has officially announced an upcoming token airdrop event for users and projects on June 26.
Blast stated that all dApps within the Blast ecosystem must allocate Blast Golds and Blast Points to users by 07:00 PM on June 25 (Vietnam time). Any project failing to comply will be listed on a Blacklist, with future sponsorship terminated.
Additionally, the project requires users owning Blast Points and Blast Golds to log into the Blast Dashboard on the project's website at least once to undergo a snapshot.
Initially, Blast intended to airdrop tokens to users on May 24, but subsequently postponed the distribution while increasing the allocation as a gesture of apology. Blast Gold serves as the airdrop point for decentralized applications (dApps) developed on the network.
According to Coin68, Blast's upcoming airdrop plans to allocate 50% of the token distribution to developers through Blast Golds. However, dApps have also committed to providing 100% of their received Blast Golds to those who engage with their projects. The remaining 50% will be distributed directly to users through Blast Points based on wallet balances and earned points from interacting with dApps. This illustrates Blast's focus on its user community in the upcoming airdrop.
Blast has undergone a tumultuous journey since its introduction in November 2023, facing criticism for its Ponzi-like scam model. Nevertheless, Blast continues to attract attention from users, achieving an impressive Total Value Locked (TVL) of $360 million within its first three days. After over half a year since its launch, Blast's TVL has now surpassed $2 billion, making it the fourth-largest Layer-2 platform on Ethereum.

June 2024 witnessed two airdrop events from major players ZKsync and LayerZero. On June 11, ZKsync announced an airdrop of 17.5% of its total supply to 695,232 eligible wallets. However, the community quickly identified anomalies in ZKsync's airdrop criteria, leading many to believe it favored insiders of the Layer-2 platform. Following this, LayerZero enabled users to claim ZRO tokens on June 20 at 06:00 PM (Vietnam time), sparking controversy over its "Sybil hunting" program with repeated halts and restarts.
Blast will be the third project conducting an airdrop in June 2024 and is currently receiving strong community support for its transparent and clear criteria for airdrop allocation.
