Blockchain infrastructure development company ConsenSys is set to launch the alpha version of its layer-2 solution, Linea, on the Ethereum mainnet.

Linea Layer-2 Mainnet Deployment
Linea, a zkEVM layer-2 solution developed by ConsenSys—the team behind MetaMask—has now been deployed on Ethereum and is preparing to open for global users.
This week, Linea will start integrating over 100 partner applications on Ethereum that aim to launch their products on this layer-2 platform. The public launch is scheduled for the following week during the EthCC conference.

About Linea
Linea is a layer-2 solution announced by ConsenSys in late 2022. It combines zk-Rollups technology with compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), hence the term zkEVM. Other zkEVM solutions in the market include Polygon zkEVM, zkSync Era, Taiko, and Scroll. Popular layer-2 solutions like Arbitrum and Optimism use Optimistic Rollups, which are considered less advanced compared to zk-Rollups.
From March to June this year, Linea underwent a testing phase, attracting 5.5 million crypto wallets and facilitating 46 million transactions. This solution promises to alleviate congestion on Ethereum by offering transaction fees up to 15 times lower than the original layer-1.
Statements from ConsenSys CEO
Joseph Lubin, founder and CEO of ConsenSys, who is also a co-founder of Ethereum, commented:
“The next chapter of Web3 will be written on Ethereum's layer-2 solutions, and Linea is ready to serve as the scalable execution environment for dApps.”
Stay tuned for further updates on the deployment and integration of Linea and other advancements in blockchain technology!
