MakerDAO to Implement Phase One of the Endgame Plan in Summer 2024

After more than 10 months of preparation, MakerDAO has announced the latest updates for its "Endgame Plan," including the roadmap for the first phase of the program.

Goals of the Endgame Plan
The Endgame Plan aims to enhance the growth, resilience, and accessibility of MakerDAO, with a target to expand the DAI supply to over $100 billion.
A key feature of the Endgame Plan is to create an engaging experience through sustainable yield farming activities via SubDAO tokens.
This plan includes providing SubDAO tokens to all DAI stablecoin users, strengthening the SubDAO ecosystem by attracting new users and creating a vibrant environment. This boosts the momentum and intrinsic value of the SubDAOs.
Endgame was proposed almost two years ago and was approved through a governance vote in March 2023. Since then, the entire DAO has undergone a structural transformation, focusing on building core technology, tools, legal frameworks, and a network of providers to support the future SubDAO ecosystem.

Updated Roadmap
Phase 1: Launch of Endgame
The first phase will unveil all key features and intensify growth drivers. The goal is to establish a cycle where SubDAOs, tokenomics, branding, and user acquisition channels integrate to drive significant growth in DAI usage. The launch season is planned for summer 2024.
New Branding Launch
The brand revelation phase will last one month, during which early users can register to receive rewards that will increase their yields when new tokens are launched.
New Token Launch
One month after the brand transition, NewStable (a new stablecoin) and NewGovToken (a new governance token) will be launched. DAI and MKR will continue to exist, but users will have the option to upgrade to NewStable and NewGovToken to access all new features.
Additionally, Endgame will develop a more user-friendly website, alongside an airdrop for NewGovToken. A new bridge (NewBridge) will also be launched to connect NewStable, NewGovToken, and other tokens within the Maker Ecosystem from Ethereum to Layer 2. The name of the new bridge will be announced later.
Other mechanisms such as the Lockstake Engine and SparkLend will also be launched during this phase. The Lockstake Engine allows users to lock MKR and NewGovToken to farm NewStable and upcoming SubDAO tokens, as well as share 30% of Maker's protocol revenue.
Phase 2: Expansion
Phase 2 will begin after the main projects of Phase 1: Lockstake Engine, NewBridge, and Spark SubDAO. This phase focuses on expanding these foundational elements both vertically and horizontally, including the launch of six SubDAOs targeting various market segments like RWA-focused SubDAO or gaming, serving different communities and business models, along with adding more bridges to popular Layer 2 platforms like Arbitrum, Optimism, or Base and Layer 1 like Solana.
Governance in Phase 2 will grant SubDAOs full autonomy within the MakerDAO limits, evolving gradually as the community expands. Enhanced user interfaces and AI tools will support governance decisions, broadening participation.
Phase 3: Creating a New Chain
Phase 3 marks the final technical progression of the Endgame with the introduction of a new chain (NewChain), an independent Layer 1 blockchain. NewChain will host the tokenomics and governance of Maker Core, alongside SubDAOs, acting as a hub for RWA, DeFi, and inter-blockchain bridging through the NewBridge system.
Although NewChain will be introduced, Maker will continue to operate on Ethereum, allowing users of Ethereum-based products to continue using them alongside new projects.
NewChain will be developed from a leading blockchain source code, chosen after thorough research to select the best possible architecture, enabling infinite scalability for the SubDAO ecosystem and facilitating the creation of more SubDAOs at an increasing pace.
Phase 4: Final Endgame Phase
The final phase signifies the completion of basic technical and governance mechanisms, achieving the vision of a continuously evolving ecosystem based on a reliable financial infrastructure.
Additionally, governance changes will be proposed to support the launch season, including accelerating the process to capitalize on the abundant momentum before the launch. These changes aim to maximize success and impact during this critical phase.
