According to the announcement, hundreds of projects on NEAR will benefit from this partnership. Google Cloud will offer technical support to NEAR grant recipients by providing infrastructure for NEAR’s Remote Procedure Call (RPC) node providers through Pagoda.
Launched in February 2022, Pagoda is a startup platform offering NEAR developers a comprehensive toolkit to launch and maintain Web3 or blockchain dApp projects.
Marieke Flament, CEO of NEAR Foundation, commented on the partnership:
“We are thrilled to collaborate with pioneers in the internet space. This partnership marks a new chapter as we continue to provide the best support for the next generation of visionaries choosing to build on NEAR.”
Carlos Arena, Google Cloud’s Digital Director, stated that his company's infrastructure will help NEAR developers “build and scale,” and reiterated Google Cloud’s commitment to supporting “new products and services on blockchain platforms.”
The agreement with NEAR follows similar moves by Google Cloud with BNB Chain and Aptos, as part of its deeper foray into Web3. Additionally, Google Cloud has recently introduced cryptocurrency malware detection services and formed a team focused on blockchain and Web3 application development earlier this summer.
The news has led to a surge in NEAR's price over the past 12 hours.
