AnchorWatch Launches $370M-Insured Bitcoin Custody in Nevada

What happened: AnchorWatch Trust Company has launched as a Nevada-chartered qualified bitcoin custodian, offering institutional-grade custody with a $10,000 monthly fee cap and optional Lloyd's of London-backed insurance up to $370 million per client. The company offers two custody models—one with AnchorWatch-held keys plus client/trustee keys, and another distributing keys among AnchorWatch, BitGo, and CoinCorner. The system uses Miniscript for programmable, multi-signature security, and insurance covers theft, coercion, and internal fraud.

Why it matters: AnchorWatch is the only Lloyd's Coverholder able to directly insure bitcoin owners, addressing a gap in institutional-grade custody and risk management. The regulatory upgrade to "qualified custodian" status under US rules could attract more institutional capital, while fixed fees and robust insurance may appeal to large holders wary of counterparty and operational risks.
