Bitcoin $300K–$500K Price Forecasts Challenged by Slowing Growth Multiples

What happened: Several high-profile analysts, including Peter Brandt and Bernstein’s Gautam Chhugani and Mahika Sapra, have predicted that Bitcoin could reach $300,000–$500,000 by 2029, citing the four-year halving cycle and ETF demand. However, a recent CoinDesk analysis highlights that Bitcoin’s peak-to-peak multiples have been shrinking: from 75x (2013–2017) to 3.5x (2017–2021) to an estimated 1.8x (2021–2025). Achieving $300,000 would require a reversal of this trend, with a more than twofold increase over the projected 2025 peak of ~$126,000.

Why it matters: The analysis raises questions about the sustainability of exponential price projections for Bitcoin. As the asset matures and market capitalization grows, the likelihood of outsized returns diminishes. Even bullish forecasters like Brandt acknowledge that their models are contingent on historical cycle integrity, and that a breakdown in the pattern would require reassessment.
