Bitcoin Recovers to $79K as Zcash ETF Tops $500M—But True Inflows Lag

What happened: Bitcoin rebounded from a dip near $77,600 to trade above $79,000, while Grayscale's Zcash ETF (ZCSH) crossed $500 million in assets under management. However, $100 million of that came from a Grayscale affiliate, with genuine third-party inflows totaling only about $70 million. Zcash surged 43% on the week, hitting $1,249.28—its highest level since 2016.

Why it matters: The headline $500 million ETF figure overstates external investor demand, as roughly one-fifth of assets were transferred internally. This raises questions about true institutional appetite for privacy coins. Meanwhile, Bitcoin remains down about 37% from its October 2025 all-time high, reflecting a still-cautious market environment.
