Bitwise Launches Automated Tokenized-Stock Portfolios on Coinbase

What happened: Bitwise Asset Management has introduced Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs) built on Coinbase’s tokenized US stocks, leveraging the Base Layer 2 network. The initial offerings include Mag7X (Magnificent 7 plus SpaceX), Robotics, and AI Leaders baskets, featuring blue-chip equities such as Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Tesla, and SpaceX. Portfolio rebalancing is executed by Glider, an onchain automation platform, while assets remain in users’ non-custodial wallets. The methodology access fee is 0.15%, with additional trading and platform costs. The product is available exclusively to non-US investors. As of August 2026, the tokenized listed-stock market is valued at approximately $2.49B, with 2.25M holders and $27.28B in monthly transfer volume. Coinbase’s tokenized stocks utilize Chainlink oracles for price feeds.

Why it matters: This launch marks a significant step in onchain asset management, blending traditional equities with blockchain infrastructure. By enabling self-custodied, rules-based equity portfolios, Bitwise and Coinbase are expanding the reach of tokenized securities and challenging centralized brokerages. However, US retail investors remain excluded due to regulatory constraints, limiting immediate domestic impact. The move further intensifies competition in the tokenized-equity space, where platforms like Robinhood, Kraken/Backed, and Bybit are also active.
