On the evening of March 1, leading oracle solution Chainlink (LINK) announced the launch of Chainlink Functions, a tool designed to help developers seamlessly connect smart contracts with any traditional Web2 API, while leveraging Chainlink's secure network for data processing.
Chainlink pointed out that one of the key barriers to widespread adoption of crypto/Web3 technology is its isolation from the traditional tech stack — there are few integration points, and building crypto-native features often requires starting from scratch. With Functions, Chainlink aims to close that gap by letting developers worldwide connect deployed smart contracts to popular Web2 APIs, including social media platforms, messaging services, AI chatbots, and more.
