Crypto Today: Trump Pardons CZ, Kyrgyzstan Launches National Stablecoin, Bitcoin Mining Enters Brutal Competition

Today, the crypto market saw three major events drawing global attention: former Binance CEO Changpeng "CZ" Zhao was pardoned by President Donald Trump, Kyrgyzstan officially launched its national stablecoin KGST, and mid-tier miners are steadily closing the gap on the industry's biggest players in Bitcoin mining.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Trump Officially Pardons CZ Following Lobbying Campaign

According to Politico, President Donald Trump signed a pardon for former Binance CEO Changpeng "CZ" Zhao following an expensive lobbying campaign by Binance in Washington.
Among the efforts, the firm Checkmate Government Relations β€” run by a close associate of Donald Trump Jr. β€” received $450,000 in a single month to lobby for "executive relief" on behalf of CZ.
The move is seen as part of Binance's strategy to reintegrate into the U.S. market, and opens the door for CZ to return to public activity after serving his sentence for anti-money laundering (AML) violations.

πŸ’° Kyrgyzstan Launches KGST Stablecoin, Confirms CBDC Rollout Plans

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan officially unveiled stablecoin KGST β€” a digital currency pegged 1:1 to the national som and issued on BNB Chain.
According to local media, at the second meeting of the Virtual Assets and Blockchain Technology Development Council, President Sadyr Japarov confirmed that the country is preparing to launch a CBDC (central bank digital currency) and a national digital asset reserve fund.
Notably, CZ β€” who was just pardoned by Trump β€” also attended the meeting in the capacity of strategic advisor. The Kyrgyz government aims to pilot the CBDC across three phases, including connecting commercial banks, integrating the central treasury, and testing offline transactions.

⛏️ Bitcoin Mining Competition Heats Up Post-Halving

Since the 2024 halving, Bitcoin mining has seen fierce competition between large-cap companies and mid-tier miners.
According to data from The Miner Mag, companies such as HIVE Digital, Bitdeer, and Cipher Mining are rapidly expanding capacity, closing the gap with heavyweights like MARA Holdings and CleanSpark.
Public mining companies now account for nearly one-third of Bitcoin's total network hashrate. However, behind this growth lies a sobering reality: total industry debt has surpassed $12.7 billion, up sharply from just $2.1 billion a year ago β€” a sign that financial pressure across the sector is mounting fast.

Takeaway
These three developments underscore crypto's growing influence across politics, finance, and technology worldwide. Trump's pardon of CZ may mark the start of a new chapter in the relationship between U.S. politics and the crypto industry, while Kyrgyzstan is emerging as a standout example of a small nation willing to lead on financial digitization.
