On March 31, Eric Trump — son of former President Donald Trump — officially announced a partnership with Bitcoin mining company Hut 8 to form a new company called American Bitcoin. The company's ambitious goal is to become the largest and most efficient Bitcoin mining operation in the world.

According to the announcement, American Bitcoin will operate as an independent mining company with a clear four-phase development roadmap, targeting total capacity exceeding 50 EH/s and energy efficiency below 15 J/TH — a highly competitive benchmark in the industry.

Hut 8 will transfer more than 10 EH/s of existing ASIC mining hardware to American Bitcoin as part of a restructuring plan. The new company will be led by Eric Trump as Chief Strategy Officer, responsible for setting the strategic direction, fundraising, and expanding relationships within the financial community.

Eric Trump commented: "I've built hotels, golf courses, and real estate, but it wasn't until I entered the world of politics that I truly understood the power of cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is a form of 'digital gold' — decentralized, global, and impossible to control."

American Bitcoin plans to list on a public stock exchange in the near future, but will first conduct fundraising through private rounds. The company also announced a hardware strategy in partnership with major names like Bitmain and MicroBT, along with domestic U.S. manufacturing to strengthen supply chain resilience.

To ensure efficient operations, American Bitcoin has signed three strategic agreements with Hut 8, including:

  • Colocation agreement for hosting mining equipment at Hut 8's data centers
  • Operations management agreement, under which all mining activities will be run by Hut 8
  • Shared services agreement covering accounting, HR, and legal compliance

Backed by financial resources, Hut 8's operational expertise, and the Trump family's influence, American Bitcoin is expected to emerge as a major new force on the global Bitcoin mining map.
