According to the latest information, a conflict in the KV-Cache storage process led to key storage conflicts (used for future reuse and decryption).
Interestingly, this vulnerability was discovered last year and had been patched by Osmosis Lab. However, due to some mismanagement in the project's branch handling, version V.20 of Osmosis inadvertently caused the issue to reappear.
As of the time of writing, the Osmosis network is back to normal operation.
Osmosis is an appchain built on the Cosmos SDK toolkit and specializes in token swaps and trading activities. Having a dedicated chain for a specific function helps the project minimize costs and avoid congestion on a general network.
Previously, in June 2022, Osmosis encountered a technical flaw in its liquidity pool, allowing the protocol to be exploited and mint tokens in large quantities.
