Polygon CDK Toolkit Integrates Data Availability Solution from NEAR DA

The Polygon CDK Layer-2 development toolkit has recently announced the integration of the Data Availability (DA) solution from NEAR DA.

Both Near Foundation and Polygon Labs have officially announced the integration on their respective homepages.

By utilizing NEAR DA's Data Availability layer, projects built on the Polygon CDK toolkit will have various customization options. These options include transaction fees, throughput, and the native coin used during operations.

Notably, in its post (data as of December 2023), NEAR DA highlighted that its Data Availability solution significantly outperforms Ethereum's native DA, post-EIP-4844 DA, and third-party DA providers like Celestia.

In November 2023, Polygon CDK and Near Foundation collaborated to develop the zkWASM virtual machine infrastructure. This step aims to bridge and minimize structural differences between blockchains with different virtual machine mechanisms.

Regarding Data Availability alone, Polygon CDK has previously partnered with Celestia, another DA provider. This means that projects developed on Polygon CDK will have the flexibility to choose between multiple DA solutions, tailoring to their specific needs.

The term "Data Availability" has gained prominence from late 2023 to early 2024 with the trend of building products in a Modular structure (breaking down tasks). Amid the competition among Layer-2 development toolkits, current DA solutions are also accelerating their product development and integration efforts to capture market share.
