As part of its "Polygon 2.0" development roadmap, the Polygon ecosystem has deployed smart contracts for the POL token on the Goerli testnet.

Previously, the Polygon community proposed replacing the current MATIC token with a new token format, POL. However, following community feedback, Polygon appended two additional proposals, PIP-24 and PIP-25.

Specifically, PIP-24 focuses on modifying the EIP-1559 burn fee mechanism, while PIP-25 aims to adjust the total supply mechanism of the POL token.

In the coming weeks, discussions related to the Ecosystem Council governance model will take place. In July 2023, three crucial pillars of this governance model were drafted and set to be announced to the broader community.

With the deployment of smart contracts for the POL token on the Goerli testnet, this Layer-2 ecosystem has taken another step forward on its Polygon 2.0 roadmap.

Previously, Polygon Labs introduced the Supernet development toolkit for projects under the name Polygon CDK. This solution aggregates liquidity and ZK validation mechanisms to enhance connectivity for projects utilizing the toolkit.

Amidst a series of product changes, Polygon also witnessed the departure of Layer-2 Polygon co-founder Jaynti Kanani. This decision was planned by Kanani six months ago, citing a desire to "embark on new journeys."
