Sei Network (SEI) Implements Face Verification for Airdrop Preparation
Sei Network (SEI) has introduced a new face verification feature on Discord, aimed at preventing bot accounts and Sybil attacks.

Sei Network (SEI) Requests Face Verification for Airdrop Participation
On May 27, the layer-1 blockchain project Sei Network announced the launch of a new feature called BotBasher, which requires Discord users to undergo face verification to prove their identity. Verified accounts will receive the "Verified Seilor" role and become eligible to participate in network activities.

FYI: It's a REALLY good idea to get the "Verified Seilor" role in the Sei Discord 👀 (https://t.co/bgJT5MlNdE)

BotBasher will perform verification through both photo and video using a separate project called Humanode. To become a Verified Seilor, users must join the Sei Discord, navigate to the Server menu -> Linked Roles -> Humanode, and follow the provided instructions.
This new requirement is widely speculated to be a preparatory measure for a future SEI airdrop, aimed at reducing the number of fake accounts and focusing on genuine users who actively engage with the platform.
The concept of biometric user identification has been gaining traction recently, with notable projects like Worldcoin, founded by OpenAI’s CEO, introducing retinal scanning as a method for effective blockchain identification.
🤖With BotBasher, you can prove you're a real person and bind your unique biometrics to a Discord account. This prevents bots from impersonating you and makes Discord communities sybil-proof.

Sei Network is a layer-1 blockchain designed specifically for DeFi, with the goal of becoming the foundational platform for the future financial system. In April, the project raised an additional $30 million across two funding rounds, bringing Sei’s valuation to over $800 million.
Last September, Sei launched a $50 million fund to support DeFi ecosystem development on its blockchain. The project has also pledged to allocate 1% of its future token supply for airdrops to users who participate in the testnet and early network experiences. However, this amount is considered modest, as 1% might be insufficient compared to the large number of current users.
