Solana Pay integration with Shopify
Shopify, a Canadian e-commerce giant, has announced its integration with Solana Pay, the payment protocol of the sixth-largest blockchain Solana.

The collaboration between Shopify and Solana Pay aims to provide millions of merchants with more dynamic and efficient payment options. According to Josh Fried, Business Development Lead at Solana Foundation:
"The partnership between Solana Pay and Shopify brings dynamic and efficient payment capabilities to millions of merchants. Consumers also benefit from the convenience and widespread network of Shopify for purchasing goods and services using digital currencies."

Solana Labs introduced Solana Pay in February 2022 to promote cryptocurrency payments in consumer transactions, addressing common bottlenecks of traditional solutions. Solana Pay supports bill payments using SOL, the stablecoin USDC, and various other SPL standard tokens.
Transactions on Solana Pay are instantaneous and nearly feeless, contrasting with credit cards that typically charge businesses 1.5% to 3.5% per transaction.
Since its inception, Shopify has processed over $444 billion USD in economic activity across 170 countries. Prior to integrating with Solana, the company has made significant strides into Web3, including initial support for NFT sales in July 2021 and expanding this feature to retail systems since June 2022. Additionally, Shopify has issued NFTs in collaboration with the NBA's Chicago Bulls and integrated Bitcoin payments via the Lightning Network.
This integration marks another step forward for both Shopify and Solana in advancing the adoption of digital currencies and enhancing payment efficiency within global e-commerce ecosystems.
