According to last week's announcement, the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF)—the organization behind the Stellar blockchain—identified a vulnerability in the Stellar Core software version 20.1.0 on January 25. Theoretically, this bug could impact applications and services on the new "Soroban" smart contract transactions post-upgrade.

SDF indicated that the vulnerability appears to pose minimal risk. However, in response to strong developer community feedback, the platform plans to reschedule the network upgrade after January 30. A representative from the Stellar Development Foundation stated:
"With the current situation, if fewer than 5 organizations vote in favor of the upgrade, it seems the upgrade will be postponed."
The platform will proceed with bug fixes over the next two weeks. In the event of a rescheduled upgrade, SDF will conduct a re-vote for the deployment timing in the future.
Based on ecosystem feedback, we’ve decided to disarm our validators in support of postponing the Protocol 20 vote on Jan. 30 until after a bug fix – which is already in the works – is available.

Stellar is one of the oldest blockchains, known as a fork of Ripple launched in 2014. The project is currently upgrading to enhance programmability and introduce smart contracts similar to Ethereum.
This upgrade is also expected to bring a new outlook for the project's native token XLM. Overall, over the past year, XLM's price has largely fluctuated between $0.1 and $0.13.
