Sui Announces Token Distribution Plan and Airdrop Rewards

Sui Foundation has recently unveiled its token distribution plan, allocating 6% of the SUI tokens for user airdrops.

Sui Reveals Token Allocation and Airdrop Rewards

In the early hours of December 15 (Vietnam Time), Sui Foundation officially announced its SUI token distribution plan.

The foundation plans to distribute SUI tokens to network operators, users, and stakeholders. SUI will serve as the heart of the ecosystem, used for various purposes including staking, gas fee payments, liquidity provision, and governance.

Early supporters of the platform will be given priority, with the distribution detailed as follows:

  • 50% allocated to the Community Reserve Fund (for delegation programs, grants, R&D, and validator rewards);
  • 20% for early contributors to the project;
  • 14% for investors;
  • 10% for the project team – Mysten Labs Treasury;
  • 6% for network interaction activities and community programs, which can be understood as airdrop rewards for users.

Sui's Token Distribution Plan Announced

Sui notes that 50% of the SUI tokens will be held by the Sui Foundation for the Community Reserve Fund, and this allocation may be adjusted in the future. Tokens will be distributed to stakeholders following the successful launch of the mainnet.

As reported by Coin68, Sui began its testnet phase on November 18. Testnet Wave 1 is designated for validators and all nodes, functioning as a “dress rehearsal” to enhance decentralization, address issues, and identify key node operators for the project.

Previously, while heavyweight competitor Aptos created a buzz with a multi-million-dollar airdrop storm, Sui had disappointed the community by stating it had no plans to reward early users.

Sui is Mysten Labs' first blockchain project, valued at $2 billion following a $300 million funding round in September. Sui was co-founded by a team formerly involved with Meta’s Diem blockchain and Move programming language.

Recently, Sui’s development team introduced Mist, a smaller denomination of the SUI token, to improve the network's payment system. About a week ago, Sui launched the Community Access Program, allowing users to purchase SUI tokens in the early stages. This means the community still has the opportunity to acquire tokens even without prior blockchain experience.

Additionally, the Sui Foundation is supporting the project through a Developer Grant Program of up to $100,000 and plans to offer additional rewards in SUI.
