Swell Develops Layer-2 for Restaking on Polygon CDK Framework

Liquid Restaking solution Swell has recently announced plans to develop a Layer-2 solution utilizing the Polygon CDK framework.

In parallel with integrating the Polygon CDK, Swell will collaborate with AltLayer and EigenDA to establish the necessary processes for a Rollup network.

Swell's very own zkEVM—powered by @0xPolygon CDK and built in collaboration with @eigen_da and @Alt_Layer—will be underpinned by @Chainlink services to help kickstart dApp adoption.

Unlike traditional Rollup models, the Swell-integrated model is a Restaked Rollup, a framework implemented by AltLayer in collaboration with EigenLayer since late December 2023.
Through this new Rollup solution, users will benefit from optimized yields and reduced transaction costs compared to operations on the current Layer-1 mainnet.
The token used to pay gas fees on the network will be rswETH (a liquid restaking token developed by Swell in partnership with EigenLayer). Both rswETH and swETH tokens will be utilized in network governance alongside Swell's native token, SWELL.
The trend of developing bespoke networks for specific tasks on the Ethereum platform has surged since the latter half of 2023. Additionally, the reuse of liquid staking tokens for network validation tasks has brought significant attention to the Liquid Restaking sector recently. Therefore, Swell's new initiative combines two of the most prominent trends within current blockchain ecosystems.
