In the early hours of April 4th, Twitter users worldwide noticed that the social media platform’s logo had been changed to a Shiba Inu dog, closely resembling the Dogecoin (DOGE) logo.

Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter for $43 billion at the end of 2022, stated that this change was simply fulfilling a promise he made last year.

Musk did not clarify whether this move indicates that Twitter will soon accept DOGE as a payment method—a speculation fueled by Musk’s previous actions with Tesla and ongoing rumors since his acquisition of Twitter.

Some have even joked that this could be an elaborate "April Fool’s" prank by Twitter. However, due to staffing shortages and stringent working conditions under Musk's leadership, Twitter might have missed the opportunity to execute the prank as planned.

Regardless, the logo swap was enough to send DOGE's price soaring by 37%, from $0.077 to $0.1 in the early hours of April 4th, before correcting to $0.092 at the time of writing.
