As explained by Coin68, Dencun introduces "proto-danksharding," a feature aimed at significantly reducing transaction fees on layer-2 networks built on Ethereum by introducing the concept of blobs to optimize transaction data storage.
Previously, Dencun has undergone successful testing on Ethereum's testnets including Goerli (January 17), Sepolia (January 30), and Holesky (February 7).
Following Dencun, Ethereum's next significant upgrade, named Pectra, is currently under discussion, with details yet to be finalized.
