Wormhole (W) Accidentally Includes Attacker in Airdrop List

Initially, Wormhole mistakenly allocated airdrop tokens to wallet addresses associated with individuals who had previously attacked its platform.

The cross-chain protocol Wormhole inadvertently included a hacker from the 2022 attack in its airdrop list. This discovery was made by an anonymous user with the account X identified as Pland.

Approximately 4 wallet addresses related to the past hacking incident received over 31,600 W tokens, valued at about $32,000 USD. According to another reliable source, the project promptly revoked these allocations.

In February 2022, Wormhole fell victim to one of the largest hacks in the history of decentralized finance, where attackers withdrew 120,000 wETH from the cross-chain protocol, resulting in losses amounting to $325 million USD.

Since then, Wormhole has tirelessly worked towards recovery and rebuilding its platform. Despite significant setbacks, the project has not lost the trust of its community and investors. Evidence of this is the project raising $225 million USD from several major funds late last year, post its split from Jump Crypto.

Recently, Wormhole's token issuance and W token airdrop events have gained significant traction within the cryptocurrency community. The price of W surged to $1.86 USD at listing and has since corrected by approximately 40%, hovering around $1 USD.
