Anthony Rose, a zkSync contributor, confirmed that Inscriptions are causing a surge in transaction processing pressure on the network. This incident has resulted in users being unable to send transactions for up to 15 minutes.

A spokesperson from zkSync Developers confirmed that Era network is experiencing issues due to a sudden increase in transaction volumes.

Specifically, nodes are showing signs of slowing down, and users may experience limitations in transaction submissions through APIs. The team is investigating the cause to resolve the issue.

Transaction history monitoring data shows that the last batch of transactions was packaged and processed an hour ago.

This incident comes just a day after Arbitrum, another Layer-2 solution, temporarily halted the creation of new blocks.

It's likely that zkSync Era has also fallen victim to Inscriptions, the trend where NFT data is directly inscribed into blocks, causing numerous networks to become overloaded.

On-chain data indicates that before Arbitrum encountered issues on the evening of December 15th, over 90% of network transactions were related to Inscriptions activities.
