zkSync Rumored to Airdrop Tokens to Users Mid-June

According to insights from The Block, zkSync - the Layer-2 solution developed by Matter Labs - is set to announce its native token this week.

zkSync confirms it will airdrop tokens to users in mid-June

The anticipated total supply of this token is 21 billion, with details of the airdrop to be revealed 30 days after the Token Generation Event (TGE).

Thus, based on these details, it is highly likely that the airdrop will be announced around June 13, ahead of the June 26 milestone recently set by Blast (another Layer-2 project).

However, controversies surrounding the token symbol remain unresolved. The use of the symbol "ZK" could potentially cause confusion with another project, Polyhedra Network. Conversely, some argue that this scenario remains plausible since Binance has not listed any token with a similar symbol.

Previously, in an update post on version v24, the project also hinted at plans to issue tokens by the end of June.

"Version update v24 will be the final protocol upgrade before we transfer governance back to the community. The remaining piece will be announced by the end of June," shared zkSync in their post.

Matter Labs, the entity behind zkSync's construction and development, has garnered significant support from notable names such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Dragonfly Capital, Blockchain Capital, Crypto.com Capital, Placeholder Capital, and 1kx. The project successfully raised $258 million across funding rounds, alongside a $200 million ecosystem development fund.
